Touch-Up Paint

Mixing instructions and guidance for keeping your painted finish looking its best.

Keep paint and catalyst unmixed until you are ready to use

Your cabinetry order may have included touch-up paint for use if the painted finish is ever damaged during the life of your cabinets. Your kit includes paint along with the necessary catalyst and thinner, which must be mixed together before use. Do not mix until you are ready to apply.

Use the amounts below based on the quantity of paint you are mixing. If thinner was not included in your kit, it has already been mixed into the paint — disregard the thinner quantity.

Small touch-up

Paint 1 tbsp
Catalyst ⅛ oz
Thinner* ¼ oz

2 oz bottle of paint

Paint 2 oz
Catalyst ¼ oz
Thinner* ½ oz

1 pint of paint

Paint 1 pt
Catalyst 2 oz
Thinner* 4 oz

* If thinner was not included in your kit, it has already been incorporated into the paint. Simply omit it from your mixture.

01

Measure your ingredients

Using the ratios above, measure out the correct amounts of paint, catalyst, and thinner (if applicable) for the quantity you need.

02

Combine all ingredients

Add the catalyst and thinner to the paint in a suitable container. Do not store catalyst in a metal container — it will corrode the vessel.

03

Shake thoroughly for at least 1 minute

Mix the ingredients completely by shaking the container for a minimum of one minute. Improper mixing can alter the color and viscosity of the paint, affecting the final result.

04

Apply to the affected area

Apply the mixed paint carefully to the damaged area. For best results, refer to the finish and scratch repair tips on our Troubleshooting page.

Proper storage protects both the quality of your paint and the safety of your space.

Use mixed paint within 1 month

Once paint, catalyst, and thinner are combined, the mixture should be used within approximately one month. Do not use after this period.

Never store catalyst in metal containers

The catalyst will corrode metal containers over time. Always store in the original plastic bottle or another non-metal vessel.

Discard catalyst & thinner after 18 months

Catalyst and thinner have a shelf life of approximately 18 months from the date of receipt. Discard responsibly after this period.

Keep unmixed until ready to use

Store paint and catalyst separately until you are ready to apply. Mixing in advance shortens the usable life of the product.
